13 Glazes follows emerging Canadian ceramic artist, Amy Marui, as she travels across all 13 provinces and territories in search of belonging. Gathering stories, local materials, textures, and motifs, she weaves each region's identity into each vessel, each with its own signature glaze. The series blends together travel documentary, craft exploration, and personal narrative, highlighting how land and clay shape both art and self.
I acknowledge that 13 GLAZES is being created across the homelands of many First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples throughout what is now called Canada.
As I travel and gather stories, I honour the Indigenous Nations whose lands I enter. Honouring their enduring relationships with water, clay, and the natural materials that inform this project.
I recognize that these lands have been cared for since time immemorial, and I am committed to approaching each territory with respect, humility, and a willingness to listen and learn.
